He's been acquitted of rape and now he will represent the Grizzly?s on the football field, once again, University of Montana Head Football Coach Mick Delaney says Jordan Johnson will be back on the team, effective immediately.UM President Royce Engstrom also approved the reinstatement.
Jordan Johnson was suspended from the Grizzly Football Team last February after a female acquaintance filed a police report, accusing him of rape.
Under the University of Montana?s Student Athletic Conduct Code, the rape charge yielded an automatic suspension from all UM football-related activity.
Johnson pleaded not guilty to the rape charges in August and maintained his innocence since going to trial this past February.
On Friday, a 12-member jury acquitted Johnson of the rape charge.
"It was great to be able to sit with Jordan and listen to him and talk to him and ask him questions about his desire to return back and play football. It was a thorough process. It was something that was done with the greatest intent and, but we also want to act prudently and keep things moving,? says UM Athletic Director Kent Haslum.
Haslum says that Johnson filed to appeal his suspension from the team over the weekend.
The Athletic Conduct Team met with him on Monday and Johnson was reinstated after that meeting.
